random. and a winner.

here is the finished "mobile" over kohen's crib...i bought the tissue paper pom-poms from etsy seller, orangekisses.

and i just had to laugh (well, mr. anderson and i both had to laugh) at kohen's silhouette. he has the classic anderson kid "i'm a deer caught in headlights" look. all my babies make this face. mouth open, eyes wide. it's cute.
and i love the pointy hair.

here are the silhouettes up above our back door, in our family room.

and, of course...the winner is:

I love the tutu's with the peonies!!! I can imagine my little Ellie running around and spinning out of control in those skirts. She is my little fairy princess.

the newest member of our family.

meet, red head.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
of course you know that a certain 5 year old named it.
we were so lucky to have caedmon's class take a field trip to petland.
he returned with a beta fish.
do you sense the sarcasm oooozing out of me?
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
my thoughts and views on pets?
don't like 'em.
don't need them.
already have enough poop to clean up.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
this fish has been in our home for 3 days now and hasn't eaten anything.
he's like depressed or something.
it could have been from the first night he was home...keith was attempting to put him in a different bowl and the fish hopped out of his hands and nearly made his exit from this world by going down the garbage disposal.
luckily, keith grabbed lil' nemo before he could get down the drain.
can you just imagine all of our little andersons (and me) screaming as the fish is flopping around?
yah, if i was the fish, i might be traumatized too.
all the kids in the class got a fish that day, but i'm betting we may be the first family to have a fish funeral.
wonderful.

all things pretty.

for christmas, we got hadley bean a new tutu, fairy wings (hers were desperately falling apart) and a pretty, pink halo from stephanie's wonderland.
such cute stuff...and even better, so affordable!
i was pleasantly surprised to see my total bill, right under $30!
hadley loves to dress up, so this was a perfect gift for her.
as you can see from the pictures...she loves them.

make your own silhouette picture.

i, like i'm sure most of you, have been drooling over all the custom silhouette pictures of your kids.
i wanted to ask for those for christmas, but i wanted shopping money too.
well, i am now the proud owner of some cute new clothes so my selfishness won.
but....
now i also have some silhouette pictures thanks to my crafty (a.k.a cheap) bum.
here's the supplies you'll need:
photo frame ($10.00 on sale at joanns)
spray adhesive
cardstock
black paint/paint brush
scissors
picture of your kid (the hardest part)
Photobucket
step 1:
take your kids picture.
print it (my frame is an 8 x 10 size, so i printed the picture in a 5 x 7 size)
i printed it on cardstock as well, so the paper would be thicker.
Photobucket
step 2:
cut your picture out...being very careful around the sweet little face parts.
Photobucket
step 3:
paint the cut out picture black.
let dry.
Photobucket
step 4:
i then used my spray adhesive to adhere it to the white background (sidenote--my white background is just the piece of paper that comes with the frame...i just turned it over)
and voila:
Photobucket
i will post a picture later of all 4 of them, hung on the wall (after mr. anderson does a little handy work).
this craft literally took me 30 minutes to do.
30 minutes people!
now i have sweet memories of my little people...and new clothes.
everybody is happy.

need your help.

ahhh, my lovely blog readers.
i am in need of some creative help...
caedmon is about to turn the big 6. and he is requesting a "magic" themed birthday party.
we don't promote crazy, sorcerer magic here, but a good ol' card trick here and there, we love.
here's my problem.
everything i've found online is all cheesy.
exhibit A:
Photobucket
my BFF probably used this stuff at her 13th birthday party.
she probably had this guy there too...
Photobucket
anyways.
moving on.
my thoughts thus far:
chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting and a bunny topper (so it's like the bunny coming out of the magic hat).
chocolate covered pretzels as "magic wands".
and that's all i got.
you can see why i need your help.
and can i officially say that i'm sad that i can no longer plan cute parties anymore for him?
no more making him excited about a theme i was already planning 4 months earlier.
dang.
good thing i have 3 smaller children.
help!

...we made the biggest move (literally) of our lives.
yup, 2 years ago we moved from good ol' kansas city, to sunny florida.
some days it seems like it hasn't been that long.
other days, it feels like the loneliest place on earth, and that we've been here forever.
florida has treated us well (60 degree winter? yes please) but i'm looking forward to the day when we move.
(me after driving 20 something hours--woo-hoo!)
Photobucket
in the past 2 years we've:
made new friendships.
grown apart from old ones (sad).
strengthened our marriage.
had some hard times in our marriage.
came to this great state with 3 kids.
now we have 4 kids.
rented a place for a year.
have now been homeowners for 1 year.
have traveled all over florida.
i've successfully learned how to fly with children by myself.
had our little man start kindergarten.
seen lots of gators, and other creatures which are all disgusting.
we've had fun times, and we've had hard times.
and as much as i can't wait to pack it up and leave, i will always cherish these memories we've made here.

orlando people.

interested in a mini session with me?

...will i ever scrapbook again?
here's a few pretties from the past couple years.
it's been about 7 months since i've completed a page.
sad.
i think i need a scrapbooking weekend...
good friends, good food and lots of scrapbooking.
anybody want to fly out and join me :)
