embrace the camera: oct. 28th

holla.
it's thursday.

get out your cameras and get in front of them.
your kids want pictures of you in them.
so, do them a favor and say cheese.

hadley, me, a few 100 people in the background and some awesome glare on my glasses.
this is what you get for being a cheap-A, and taking the ol' plastic lenses.

now it's your turn!
here are the official rules:
1. take a photo with you and your child or your spouse and child.
2. blog about it and include the button to embrace the camera (found on sidebar).

friends.

can i just preface this post by adding in a quick blurb...
we got a great phone call from our agency and we officially have a court date in ethiopia!
dec. 21st is the day, and this means that mr. anderson will travel over there...meet elsa...go to court...and travel home.  it will most likely take him longer to travel there, than the amount of time he'll be actually in ethiopia.
from there, we wait 6 weeks before we can travel back to africa to pick her up.
so, assuming we pass court and all that good stuff, elsa should be home in february!
and good news...once we pass court, we can post her picture :)
pray for us, friends!

okay, now...on to regularly scheduled posting....or programming.
i don't post pics from my photography sessions...well, ever.
but, this particular session was fitting, seeing as these are some of our closest friends here in orlando.
they are about to welcome a baby girl into their world...and we are so excited for them!

here's a few (or a lot) from their session.
the sunlight was perfect...

whenever i take photos of prego ladies, my thought is "i hope she realizes how beautiful she is"...
delia, you are beautiful---i love that baby belly.

makes me want another one of my own.
wait, stop.
no i don't.
well, maybe i kind of do.
no.  i really don't.

sponsor highlight: lisa's lovlies.

first off, a big thanks goes out to all of you fabulous people who have sent your donations in via snail mail.  we honestly can't thank you enough!  BUT, not only are we so grateful for your donations, we are also so grateful for the sweet notes that are coming in with them.  i've saved them all, and am putting them in elsa's box, so that she can look back one day...and read about how so many people couldn't wait for her to be home.  love.

secondly...
one of our fabulous sponsors this month is lisa's lovlies...
(did you know you too, can be a sponsor?  email me for details!)

she makes beautiful jewelry...
a while back i bought myself this nose hoop, so i can officially be a hippie.

here's a few more beautiful items in her shop (that i love).

good news for ALL of you (and by ALL, i mean everybody...including international folk).
she is giving away a set of these earrings:

here's the detailed description of this item:
Cold forged and oxidized sterling silver hoops featuring 4.5mm gorgeous green Chinese turquoise skillfully hand wrapped around hammered sterling silver hoops finished with comfortable artisan designed hooks. These earrings are rich with color due to the oxidization of the sterling silver and meticulous polishing to add depth and beauty.
These earrings are lightweight and measure 1.2 inches long including the hooks. The hoop is about 1 inch in diameter.

beautiful, eh?
so, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post---1 entry per person---strictly enforced by the comment police.

i've heard random.org likes funny comments.
just sayin'.

i no longer have a tiny baby.

i know i'm probably being rather dramatic, in my post title...but it's true.
my littlest is no longer a tiny baby.
he's 1.
1 year old.
no, i'm quite sure i was just birthing that boy (naturally, i might add) last week...how did he turn 1 so fast?

we celebrated the monkey with a paul frank/circus themed small bday party.
i'll let the pictures speak for themselves--it was fun!

the saddest part of the whole night.
he hated his smash cake.

happy birthday kohen scout!
we can't imagine what our life was like before you (although, i'm quite sure it involved a little bit more sleep--thank goodness you're cute, or i might kick you out to the curb, since you dislike sleeping through the night).

you are a perfect little anderson.
and we couldn't love you more.

pom-poms o' power.

that title is said in my best goonies voice.  pinches o' power.
you remember goonies?  maybe not?
we say 'pinches o' power' all the time in this house.
if you haven't seen goonies, please do so, asap.

so, now onto more awesome things.
such as a DIY for a pom-pom.
you know those things that are plastering the intranet everywhere you look.
i for one, am in love with pom-poms.
i don't care if they are over-used.
they are the easiest and cheapest, cute decoration you can find out there.

so, here is a step-by-step tutorial of how you can make one of your own.

gather supplies:
scissors
tissue paper (for 1 pom-pom you will need 8 sheets)
pipe cleaner or wire
ribbon
step 1:
lay your sheets out, stacked on one another.
begin folding like a fan.
when you're done folding, this is what it should look like...
step 2:
find the halfway mark by folding it in half.
stick a pipe cleaner (or if you're using wire) where the middle is.
i used a pipe cleaner because i had them already...i wasn't sure if the pipe cleaner would show, but once the pom-pom was fluff-ified  you couldn't see the pipe cleaner.  worked out nicely.
step 3:
make the pipe cleaner or wire, tight in the middle, so that the sheets are held tightly together.
step 4:
thread the ribbon through the top of the pipe cleaner.
step 5:
cut the ends...either scalloped or into a point.
step 6:
fan each side out.
step 7:
fluff it out.
one would say to be careful not to rip the tissue paper, but i tore it lots of times, and it still looked fine.

pom-pom o' power.

so, yes, i'm emily and i'm a pom-pom addict.
i use them at every party i host.
every room i decorate.
where else can i use them?
i'll find a place.

happy weekend ya'll.
