as i went to write today's post, i noticed that it would be my 600th post.
way to go em.
600 times i've sat down to write a little something.
this is a proud accomplishment for me, as i tend to be the type of personality who begins things, but rarely finishes them.
so, to have kept up with a blog for 3 full years, is quite fabulous.
3 years of our lives that are now documented.
i get asked the following few questions nearly all the time...so, i will answer them here.
so, why do i write a blog?
so that we always have something to look back on {i get my blog printed into a book too---1 for every year}.
it's a great way to record all the little moments...that i would most definitely forget, otherwise.
how do i have time to write a blog?
i use nap time to write and schedule my posts.
do i ever run out of things to say or post about?
have you met me in person? i never run out of words.
and have you met my kids? they are always doing something post-worthy.
is it overwhelming to blog 5 days a week?
no.
and i'll tell you a little secret about how blogging became fun for me. i stopped blogging "events"...but decided i would rather blog "moments".
it's like scrap booking. i couldn't move forward unless i scrapped about christmas {or insert whatever holiday/event that is holding you back from moving forward}. but, i was never in the mood to scrap christmas, so i just kept getting farther and farther behind.
same thing with my blog.
finally i decided "who cares if i post about christmas".
i don't need to post oodles and oodles of pictures of my kids under the christmas tree. now i just post moments. so, maybe that one present that milo really wanted? maybe i post about that.
whatever.
it just makes blogging much more simpler.
and i'm good with that.
so, thanks for reading this little blog about our family. it's been fun to watch this blog grow...and so much of it has to do with elsa, this i'm sure.
thank you for all of the nice and encouraging comments and emails you send me---they really mean so much.
{oh and if you're wondering, i do get the occasional fun emails too (and by fun, i mean rude).} the delete button is my friend.
so, thankfully the good outweighs the bad...
here's to 600 more posts!
{i'm pretty sure mr. anderson just rolled his eyes at that comment}
happy weekend ya'll.

Wow 600 post, and we love them! Keep em coming!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 600 posts. That's an accomplishment indeed!
ReplyDeleteCongrats. And thanks for the helpful tidbit on blogging moments. That really gave me a new fresh perspective. I think I'll take that and stick it in my pocket.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that you post MOMENTS!!!!
ReplyDeleteway to go, emily! that's awesome and IS quite the accomplishment. and, i love your blog and reading about your "moments" via your mad writing and photography skills (and the subject -your precious fam). here's to 600 more!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your perspective, Emily! Thanks for sharing your live and your loves with all of us!
ReplyDeleteWhen is Elsa coming? I hope soon. I love how you love her with your whole heart already. I know she feels it!

ReplyDeleteWoot Woot! Congrats!!!!!
ReplyDeletethanks for giving me words for what I've just discovered recently...yes, it's blogging the moments that makes it fulfilling and keeps me going. I had been trying to blog events and was stuck for awhile. I'm on 150 posts and enjoying the moments that are captured! those nasty emails.....geesh. People need to get a life
ReplyDeleteHello! I've been stalking your blog for a while and I was brought here because of Elsa. My husband and I hope to adopt someday and I find your story inspirational and your family beautiful. Congrats on 600 posts. Maybe one day I'll reach that as well!
ReplyDeleteHappy 600th. Keep them coming, I love 'em!
ReplyDeleteHappy 600! I am about half way there. I like the idea of blogging the moments, sometimes I feel like my blogs are lacking, but then when I go back and read them a year later, it doesn't seem that way, so I am glad that I least wrote something, even if it seemed mundane at the time. You are such an encouragement to me. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHooray for you! 600 is big time. I love your moments - thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeletedamn, 600. that's a lot. love it...
ReplyDeletei'll drink a margarita to that! in 11 weeks...
way to go......awesome! I love reading your "moments...."
ReplyDeleteI've only been reading your blog for the past few months, Emily, but you are now a regular in this household. I've recently developed a schedule for my "blog time" and after I usually post mine in the morning, I most likely read yours next because I know there will always be something there :). You're great at blogging 5 days a week :). Thanks for sharing your life with us and being an encouragement.
ReplyDeleteI love that you write about the little moments. It's those moments that the kiddos will remember the most anyways! Can't wait for your family to be complete!
ReplyDeletecongrats! so glad I found your blog. your too freakin' cute!
ReplyDeleteCongrats congrats!! I hope we can make it to 600 posts one of these days. Thanks for all your inspiration! -Sarah
ReplyDeletequite an accomplishment! :) I love your sweet blog!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog!!! It's so encouraging. :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing you said was that you blog moments. As a new blogger, sometimes I get overwhelmed with what/when/how to write. That's when I miss the purpose of this thing. To document our lives! What a wonderful thing.
~Whitney
"i stopped blogging "events"...but decided i would rather blog "moments"." brilliant. 600 moments...that's pretty cool. congrats!
ReplyDeleteI had a Toyota jump flashback moment when I saw your photo...congrats on 600...that's big! I'm fairly new to ur blog (as a fellow IAG PAP), but I can honestly say that I'm looking forward to the next 600!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations - I love what you say about blogging moments instead of events. It really does make it a lot simpler and let's be honest...the moments are always what we remember.
ReplyDeleteAnd we are ready for the next 600.......
ReplyDeleteThanks for the blogging tip. I try to post 5x a week and sometimes I feel like I set the bar too high for myself. If it starts feeling like a chore, what's the point?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your 600th post! Everyday I'm looking for the post the says "We have a date to go get Elsa!" Praying for you. :)
Yay you! Moments are priceless. Here's to many more posts in your future. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a lot of posts! Congratulations! I love reading them!
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to print some of my blog into a book, like the everyday moments or the stuff I write to my girls, the really thought out ones. Not so sure I want the whole blog in a book though! what do you use to do that? blurb?
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your blog emily and your kids are soooooooooo CUTE~! and I can't wait for you to have Elsa HOME!
tara
I've never actually paid any attention to the number of posts i've written... but now i will!
ReplyDeletei just started turning my blog posts into a scrapbook this past year. it took me a while to decide who to use, but in the end i went with blurb. who do you use?
Hi Emily,
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to create a book with my blog posts. What do you use for that?
erica
happy 600th! i have the same questions as others--how do you create your blog books? i love that idea.
ReplyDeleteYou're gorgeous, girl! I love your smile!
ReplyDeleteTo answer your previous question, I live in Naples, Fl, so we're neighbors. We go to orlando all the time, for Disney and Universal..
congrats on 600!! that's amazing and what a great thing to have recorded down for your family!! i agree, i have to remind myself that blogging is for me, my thoughts, my feelings, the moments in our lives that i find fascinating, happy, sad, weird or crazy. that's how it should be anyway. ;)
ReplyDeleteway to go on 600 posts!!! I'm half way to 600 posts! ha! I'm just so glad I found your blog. You encourage my face off. I love how real you are. That's all, thanks!
ReplyDeleteWoot! Congrats lady! 600 is huge. I look forward to the next 600. The 600 after that... we'll see. ;)
ReplyDeleteA friend told me about your blog and I love it! I work at an international adoption agency as a family coordinator for the Ethiopia program, so I am so excited for your family to bring Elsa home!!Your kids are adorable and I enjoy seeng pictures of them! Also your amazing craftiness is something I seriously aspire to. Congrats on your 600th post!! :-)
ReplyDeletei found your blog a while back though Jami. i love your stuff and your pics are wonderful! thanks for writing :)
ReplyDeletehi ladies! thanks for all the kind words :)
ReplyDeletewe use blurb.com to print our blog into a book. it's a pretty time-consuming effort (if you care about the details)...but it's worth it to me :)
yay ... happy 600th post day! love the part where you wrote i blog moments not events! i think the moments are easy to forget after periods of times so what a great way to remember! also i went with blurb to print my last ear's blog ... who do you use?!
ReplyDeleteThat is GREAT advice -- write about the moments, not the events. I've been struggling to find a way to say this and now, thanks to you, I've figured it out. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy 600th blog entry!!! :-) What an accomplishment - you go girl! Keep it up, cause I love them all!
ReplyDeleteso, i don't remember how i came across your cute blog...but i've been stalking it for a while now and thought i'd finally say hi! congrats on your 600th post! i've really enjoyed reading them (well not all 600 of them...i'm not a real stalker)! :) I totally struggle with blogging the events and not the moments...and i laughed when you compared it to scrapbooking because it's so true! why is christmas always a roadblock?? anyways, thanks for all the inspiring words!
ReplyDeleteCongrats!! And I completely agree about the moments. I kept getting completely overwhelmed about all of these events or occasions I "needed" to blog about. So I stopped blogging for a while because I just couldn't take it anymore. But I came back to blogging with a different attitude. I started blogging more consistantly - 5 days a week. And I decided to write whatever I wanted to! It was so freeing! :)
ReplyDeleteYAY!!
ReplyDeleteWhere do you get your blog printed through? I've been looking to do--since the blog has replaced any type of scrapbooking but would love to hear your recommendation! Thanks!
That's so awesome...600! I love reading your blog each day...encouraging, inspiring, and love getting to 'know' people thru blogs! thanks for all you share!
ReplyDeleteReading your blog is a breathe of fresh air to me. Thanks for sharing your world with us!!
ReplyDeleteWhere or how do you get your blog printed into a book? I have heard of ppl doing that before but never knew how. If you get time email me at thorpe.maria@gmail.com. If you don't get time I understand :) Mamas are busy!
ReplyDeletehappy 600! xo
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Can't wait to see more!!
ReplyDeletewhy would someone use their day and their time to compose an email to criticize or condemn you? really? losers. congrats on your success! :)
ReplyDeletevery cool and super impressive. Keep it up chicka.
ReplyDeleteamen sister. i don't know how you've had the stamina, but if you're anything like NATO, then you've got a ton. congrats and boo to those naysayers :) every time i get an "anonymous" commenter i get nervous it's someone that's going to be a jerk. ha weird.
ReplyDelete600 posts! congrats!! i really do enjoy reading your blog each morning as i down a cup of coffee.
ReplyDeleteawesome advice on blogging "moments". love it. i laughed about that b/c i have a scrapbook that i have yet to be motivated to finish b/c i am STUCK on a half-finished christmas page.
:) blessings to you & yours.
I still have a 1/2 written post about Christmas in my dashboard but noone really cares at this point so, like the 2010 Holiday cards I let that post go! moments not events.
ReplyDeleteBravo on 600 posts.
hooray! keep em' comin...rude emails? seriously? well you rock so just keep on deleting! ;)
ReplyDeleteL O V E it.... I read your blog everyday (some days multiple times)... have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment on my little ole' blog this morning, Emily. I love the embrace the camera idea, and it has definitely reminded me to get in the pictures more often! Some of my friends have caught on too! Your family is precious!
ReplyDeletethanks for your beautiful blog, its honesty and its realness. love reading you and your incredible family. heres to 600 more :)
ReplyDeletecongratulations!! that's amazing. and i love that you blog about 'moments' instead of just events. it's so much more real!
ReplyDeleteI had to stare at that picture to decide if you were jumping or just really excited to be sitting on your knees....what can I say, it is Saturday night and everything is getting blurry.
ReplyDeleteNow I feel the need to clarify that the blurriness is due to 4 littles, not Sat. night drinking.
need. to. go. to. bed.
Emily...congrats on 600! You are my hero and I just LOVE reading your blog! If I could only have an ounce of your creativity and wit:) Excited to see Elsa added to this SOON!
ReplyDeleteQuite an accomplishment! Love the idea of blogging moments.
ReplyDeleteYou look stunningly beautiful in that photo! Congrats on your 600th post... I really should be inspired to go post on my blog now. Not that I don't have post worthy things happening or great photos, I just feel so behind! It's been a couple of months since I posted last. Bummer. Anyway, love ya...
ReplyDeleteJenn
seriously? could you be any more freakin' cute?
ReplyDeleteI love hearing what you have to say. I love hearing about the progress with Elsa, although I'm sure sometimes it doesn't feel like Elsa. You are doing an amazing thing, and it's fantastic that you can share such excitement with random people that you don't know... but they sure do care!
ReplyDeletecongrats on your 600th post! I just found you through someone who linked up with embrace the camera. I feel EXACTLY the way you described about my family blog. I get so bogged down with posting 'events' then I get behind. I'm going to post the moments from now on. Thank you for the clarity. meagan @ www.stayathomemeagan.blogspot.com
