another embrace the camera day has arrived.
this week, my oldest turned 7.
we surprised him monday morning with a note that said "surprise, you don't have to go to school today, instead you and mommy are going to universal studios!"
while i know he was really excited, the first words out of his mouth were "but, i'm supposed to be helper of the day at school today".
have no fear, he got to be helper the next day.
caedmon loves harry potter.
like, loves it so much that he's already decided that he would like to name his children, harry potter anderson, hermione granger anderson and albus dumbledore anderson.
very unique names, caedmon.
he has currently read the first book and is working on the second.
(before you judge, please know that i read it before him, to make sure it's acceptable, and he's never allowed to read past whatever chapter i am on---and, he isn't allowed to read anything after the 2nd book. nor is he allowed to watch any of the movies. okay, i feel better getting that out.)
sooooooo, knowing his love for harry, i thought it would be fun to take him to the "wizarding world of harry potter". i have the most generous friend who got caedmon and i into the park for free (thank you--you made this day so special!)
we really had so much fun (i LOVE one on one time with my littles)---and our embrace the camera picture is of us riding one of the roller coasters:
this picture makes me laugh.
i am definitely trying to stay still while taking a picture, whilst on a roller coaster.
we rode this ride about 10 times in a row.
it was a favorite of the day.
and for anyone who hasn't been there, please look at the hogwarts castle they built:
i first went to the park with my sister, back in august. back then, i didn't even know who harry potter was (okay, major exaggeration there, but i really could have cared less) but even back then, i thought that this castle was amazing. and there is a ride in there too!
so, are you ready to embrace the camera?
here's the nitty gritty:
1. take a picture with you and your kids/spouse/family member/friend/whatever.
2. blog about that picture and include a link to our blog, or grab our button.
3. link your blog post up on mr. linky below.
4. visit the other embracers...give each other lots of compliments about how good we look with our greasy hair and sweatpants velour jogging suits on. cause yah, we need a little boost when it's been days since our last shower.
5. have fun!

Oh I love Harry Potter too and that castle is UH-mazing!!! What a fun day for your birthday boy!
ReplyDeleteYour a good momma....

You have warmed my heart this morning..I used to do this exact same thing with my youngest who is in college...miss him..glad u r enjoying the "now"... :)
ReplyDeleteway to go, momma! looks like a blast.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you rode the roller coaster 10 times in a row. I would have puked my guts out after the first ride (or whilst riding it.) you deserve a mommy-of-the-year award for that one. And for letting Caedmon stay home from school. Probably his best birthday ever!
ReplyDeleteLove you,
Jenn
i'm reading harry potter tooooo!! good choice caedmon!
ReplyDeleteWe can't wait to go to harry potter. We are just waiting for the crowds to die a bit. I bet it's amazing. While I always say Orlando is the only place I wouldn't ever live in Florida, that kind of makes it worth it, to have special treats like that with you kids. We experience it enough just living in Florida, but not like that!
ReplyDeletehow fun!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love that you pulled him from school. That will be something he remembers for a lifetime! We are big Harry Potter fans and that castle IS impressive! We will need to get there someday.
ReplyDeletehappy birthday to your cool 7-year-old!
ReplyDeletewe are practically birthday twins,
i turned 31 on monday.
and love hp almost as much as your guy.
only i didn't name my kids after the books.
i hope he finds a wife that is on board for that one day.
so awesome:)
That's awesome! Love the roller coaster pic!
ReplyDeleteI think Caedmon looks so much like his dad. I love that he's a responsible student :). What a fun birthday treat!
ReplyDeleteoh man! I totally have lots of photos to post for this, but won't probably this time! I will save them for next week! I sit here every thursday and comment on every single post! I LOVE IT! but I will be back to post later as today is a busy day and I don't want to be sidetracked!
ReplyDeletelove the roller coaster ride!!!
tara
What a fun day. My brother is in town and we were talking about going to the Harry Potter park too. I still have not been.
ReplyDeleteThat picture is pure JOY! What a birthday!!!
ReplyDeleteWow that castle is amazing! Glad you had such a fun day together. :)
ReplyDeleteI am impressed that you were able to take a picture while on the roller coaster!lol I love it, looks like so much fun!
ReplyDeletei am judging you for letting caedmon read those books.
ReplyDeletehe is a teenager. mkay. get ready. it's coming in about 6 years.wait, he's advanced...4 years.
Looks SO fun!! The picture is great!!
ReplyDeleteHe sure was one lucky birthday boy! =)
ReplyDeleteplaying hooky on his birthday...so fun!
ReplyDeleteAH! One of my good friends worked there last summer as part of an internship program, and she LOVED LOVED LOVED it! This is so on my bucket list to do!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like such a blast!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had such a fantastic time! We are overly jealous in our tiny little midwest town! (where there is nothing but snow, snow, snow!)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great day! A memory for a lifetime, I think.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great birthday day... I have my oldest turning 7 in May and I"m thinking up something fun "out of the box" that she would love;)
ReplyDeleteLove this challenge:) Think I have a pic to link up, too:)
i love that you took the picture while riding a roller coaster!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I love the roller coaster picture, but then again I love roller coasters!
ReplyDeleteToo fun! It used to be that whenever anyone mentioned Harry Potter, I was like "psh, weirdos!" That was until I started reading the HP books a few months ago...No, I am officially hooked, so the pic of Hogwarts immediatley caught my eye. :)
ReplyDeleteOh but I'm still on book 5 so don't tell me what happens!!
that harry potter castle rocks.
ReplyDeleteand so does your picture, and the fact that you got to take him there on his birthday. that would be so much fun!
how cool is that?! you get to just pop on over to universal studios! lil' old IL just keeps teasing us ... we have a day of fairly nice sunny 45 degree weather then a day of cold wet rain and highs of 30's! anyways ... hoping you enjoyed your alone time with the birthday boy!
ReplyDeleteMy oldest turns 7 this week too! I however could leave him a note that says "Surprise, no school...we're going to the 4H barn to look at goats" because that is about the most exciting thing here. We once had a theme park....
ReplyDeleteOn a serious note, I love that you did that with him. You are a great mommy.
Taking a picture + riding a roller coaster = serious talent :)
ReplyDeleteLove Harry Potter. No judging here. When I read the last book, I wished that all the people who cried "EVIL" about Potter in the beginning could have known this was coming. Whoops, right? Anyway, totally understand exposing a child gradually and carefully and under guidance. What good mommy-ing! And what a great experience to have together--both the reading and the theme park trip!
ReplyDelete#100!!!!! Wohooooooo! :)
ReplyDeleteThis was really fun! Love your blog this is my first time to participate! You have a beautiful family!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I want to go there so bad!!! It looks so amazing.
ReplyDeleteHaha so he isn't too fond of Ron? Is that why he doesn't want to name any of his kinds Ronald Weasley Anderson? That is just too funny. :)
you are officially the coolest mom EVER! i want to to go to universal studios!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your new Embrace the Camera button! AWESOME :)
