i apologize for my lack of blogging.
there is a reason for that.
life has been hectic. that is an understatement.
life has been crazy. that is an understatement.
life has been unpredictable. that is a major understatement.
don't ever say that you have a plan, because God laughs at those of us who plan.
just as He's laughing right now as i tell you the big news:
i am pregnant.
completely unplanned, total surprise pregnancy.
hello!
3 weeks after sweet elsa came home, i started puking.
i took a pregnancy test to confirm the news.
sure enough...a small little positive sign.
mr. anderson and i have racked our brains around how this could have happened.
i mean, we know how babies happen, but we aren't sure how this baby happened.
i'm waiting for an angel of the Lord to appear and tell me i'm pregnant with God's second son.
just goes to show that we really don't have any control over our lives.
that it's all in His hands.
i know and trust that in His eyes, this little life was no accident.
so here we sit.
7 weeks pregnant.
with another little asian nugget.
that is making me completely sick. i have hyperemesis...the most severe type of sickness you can get while pregnant.
nauseous 24/7...throwing up most of the day and night.
i've already been to the hospital this week to get IV fluids and meds.
blah.
please pray for me---that this sickness would pass and that i could possibly have an easy time.
PTL for good friends here who have stepped up and are taking care of our family...cause i can't do it right now. and mr. anderson is going crazy having to be dad and mom right now.
thank goodness i'm married to a good man. otherwise, i would never survive this.
so yes.
our big news.
we know it's early to tell people, but because i get so sick, we have to tell immediately because we need the help.
we trust God and whatever His plans are for this bean.
know that we are excited...and thankful. we just need to get past this hard time of sickness before we can fully embrace the fact that we'll have 6 kids, ages 7 and under.
so, please forgive me for my lack of blogging.
it's gonna be pretty random for a while...hang in there with me, friends.
{old picture, cute kohen}

Ohmygoodness. Wow. Just wow. I had a feeling something was up but I thought it might be your mom, not a baby! I do hope the sickness gets on out of there very soon.
ReplyDeletePTL! And prayers for you, your Mr. Mom, and your sweet children.
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS! A miracle, I tell you. It's a miracle. As another Mama who gets the 24/7 20 weeks of sickness, be kind to yourself. Breathe. And just know that there are tons of people out there thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteThe same has recently just happened to us! Isn't God funny! His timing, it's never as we expected! Just a few weeks before we got our little Norah we found out we were pregnant (we had been preventing). We will have a total of 7 months from the time Norah came to be with us, to the time the baby comes......and I thought 3 kids 3 and under was crazy, now hearing about your 6 kids, 7 and under, now that is crazy! My husband and I have spent a whole lot of time laughing and crying (which I am sure is the case for you) I am praying for your sickness to settle down soon because I cannot even imagine trying to take care of family and being soooo sick. Congrats on your growing family, you are blessed!
ReplyDeleteOH, Girl, I don't know how you are doing it. Well, by God's grace, but you have a full plate. I was super sick with my pregnancies too, hospital for fluids and all, too. I don't know if you are open to meds, but Zofran worked miracles for me. I am praying for you and your family.
ReplyDeleteOh WOW! Congratulations. I pray that the Lord grants you grace through this pregnancy and grace to your family as well! Blessings on your family!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the new little blessing, and I will be praying for your family. I've also had a surprise baby and know that it can take some getting used to, not just physically but emotionally too.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I am so happy for you guys...what a blessing! So sorry that you have been soooooo sick! Will be praying it subsides quickly!
ReplyDeleteOh goodness congratulations! I'm sorry you have been so sick. I had Hypermesis with both of my pregnancies and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have great empathy for the sickness. Sorry :( I hope it gets better soon.
Congrats!!! I hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteOh yay! I'm so stinknin happy...sorry about the puke and all...but I'm still happy. Hope you feel better soon. :)

ReplyDeleteincredible!!! there must be a lot of little souls that need a wonderful home on this earth and God knows where to send them for sure!! I'm sure the sickness isn't helping in ur strength and resolve so i hope that is over soon for you cuz you'll need all the strength in the world. I remember I was mad at God when He surprised us with #4 and then when it wasn't a boy i was a little pissed...hahahaha! but u get over it quickly becuz you remember there must be a reason this child is supposed to be in your family, and once they're here you can't imagine life without them!
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you pretty lady, life is crazy and what doesn't kill us makes us stronger, no?? ;)
hillary

OH MY GOODNESS! Well what a surprise indeed. Of course it's a wonderful surprise, or it will be when you stop puking! I'm glad you have helpful friends and family there, along with such a stud of a hubbs. Hang in there, friend!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I guess this is one of those "My cup overfloweth" blessing situations huh? THRILLED for you! Really sorry to hear about how sick you are. Wish I wasn't some random lady who lives far away, I would love to bring you dinner and watch your littles! You all are in my prayers!
ReplyDeleteoh emily wow!!! congrats :) oh i am so sorry you are so sick. praying hard for you. so crazy. you must be so stunned!
ReplyDeleteHealth and support are my prayers for you and each of your family members. Congratulations.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me so so so happy! (well, not the fact that you get sick, obviously) but the fact your kids will have so many good memories of this. We have 7 kids in my family, 3 by adoption, (so my parents had 7 kids under the age of 8, the 3 adopted w/quite a few learning disabilities) and we're all older now (well, teenagers), and even though big families are "annoying" at times (i'm sure you know what I mean) none of us would trade it for the world. My mom had a family of 6 kids, and her family is still incredibly close, and I can feel that in our family! Thinking of you & your family!
ReplyDeleteThese surprises make me giggle with delight. The family I was a
ReplyDeleteNanny for have a 7 year old and finally decided that have a new baby. He turned one this month. Four months ago she told me she had a surprise on the way. I laughed then as well.
Not to make fun of but to think of God's gifts at unexpected times. My goodness you will be a busy Mom. But what fun.
Congrats! :)
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you're feeling horrible. I'll definitely keep the prayers coming your way!
Oh my word lady! Congratulations! What a whirl wind of a year you are having! Hope you get to feeling better soon and looking forward to seeing pictures of another one of your beautiful babes!
ReplyDeleteCongrats times a million!!! Can't wait to see this pretty little baby. Praying for you all.
ReplyDeleteI TOTALLY understand! I puked 24/7...with trips to the hospital, fainting while puking because it was such violent puking..the whole deal. I'm so sorry that this is what happens in order to have such an incredible blessing! You will be in my daily prayers, as well as your husband and your children. Blessings, hugs and most importantly, prayers!!! Marissa
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Congratulations! This is so wonderful; the world could always use another beautiful little Anderson. :D
ReplyDeletelove you, em...so proud of you and excited for you. i wish i could take your sickness away, may time pass quickly, just this once.

Ahh! Congrat! I will be praying for you about the sickness. It's so true that God sometimes laughs at our plans. I love the phrase "beautiful mess" from The Shack—He desires to turn out lives into a beautiful mess.

ReplyDeleteoh.my.gosh. my little man is slightly older than kohen and if i got accidentally pregnant i too would be racking my brain. good luck and congrats! and feel better! NOW!;)
ReplyDeleteholy smokes! God bless you girl (and he has!)
ReplyDelete"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.'" - Jeremiah 29:11-13
ReplyDeletePraying for you and your family. May the sickness go away very soon and the help come as needed. 6 beautiful children for a family full of love :).
My mouth was wide open as I read the post. I'm so sorry you are going to go through 9 months of sickness. I've only done that twice and it is HARD. Movies for the kids is the best thing in the world. I pray that Elsa adjusts quickly and very easily so that you can just rest and have this baby! Praise God for awesome husbands that take on SO much while the woman makes a little baby. We'll wait for you to come back around. Just be sure to inform us the gender and when you have the baby! ;). Blessings!
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! Congrats:) So sorry you're so sick:( Praying you feel lots better very soon!!
ReplyDeleteWow! I did not see that coming and it sounds like you didn't either. You are a tough cookie. You can do hard things. You can survive anything for 40 weeks. Keep those IVs flowing- they are a life saver! It will be worth it in the end, but you already know that ;)

SO excited for you though, big family are the BEST thing ever.
ps. we are only two weeks apart!
Wow, you have so much on your plate right now! So glad you have a relationship with the Lord and know He has complete control, even when we don't. Praying your health improves and that your friends in FL are able to help until it does...and even after that! The blog world can wait. Take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteWOW! Congratulations! Covering you in prayer! 6 kids, a family of 8. God's plans are perfect! :)

ReplyDeleteI just happened upon your blog today for the first time. What an exciting announcement! Hang in there during this difficult time. You have a beautiful family!
ReplyDeleteThough I was not that sick to need IV fluids, I can say to some degree I know how you feel. My second child made me so sick I lost 20 pounds. Almost did go on IV fluids but thank the Lord the nausea and puking subsided to a dull roar. I'll be praying your nausea goes away and that your family continues to be well taken care of. :)

#3-I currently have 4 of these "surprises" from the Lord. Despite my initial shock, I think they are keepers. :)
#4-So sorry you are sick. Call me out of the loop, but are there any natural things to help with this? Hylands homeopathics, pressure bands, ginger, accpuncture?
#5-Congrats, I can't wait to hear who this little bundle of joy is.

I have cold chills because I feel like we're kindred spirits! We started our adoption in November and found out I was pregnant in January. We're still adopting. I also have hyperemesis when pregnant and know the yuckiness that goes with that! Saying a prayer! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteWow, crazy unexpected exciting news for you and your family! I pray that this wonderful hard time will reveal God's goodness and grace in a fresh way. Blessings to your sweet family.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your lil surprise! :)
ReplyDeletePraying for you!
congratulations on your newest muffin, emily! so sorry to hear that you're feeling cruddy! i had hyperemesis REALLY REALLY BAD with both my pregnancies, so i wanted to pass on something that worked for me.
ReplyDeletewhen i couldn't keep anything else down, i picked out a couple of my favorite fruit juices and froze them in bowls as individual portions (cranapple and grape were two that were really good). they turned into slushies in the freezer and tasted good. i could pretty much keep down no liquid or solid, so the slushies kinda "tricked" my body and i was usually able to keep them down.
hope this helps and that you feel better soon! i kept repeating that no matter how hard the pregnancies were, i was going to get a fantastic prize at the end! you can do it...and don't be afraid to ask for (and accept) help! :) congrats again!
Wow! Congratulations! Our youngest was also a shocker but now (now that he's 3!) I call him my favorite surprise. I can't imagine life without him in it.
ReplyDeletePraying God's strength for you & your beautiful, growing family!
congratulations on your newest addition!! i will be praying for the sickness. God is able to make all grace abound to you!! :)

Congrats on the two new additions...Elsa is a baby doll and thanks for all the information on adoption. I frequent your blog but it had been awhile since I stopped by. ReplyDeleteHi Emily! I don't know if you'd remember, but I emailed you a while back with questions about your camera and being on staff. :-) Anyway, I just wanted to say that I will definitely pray for you. I am sorry you're so sick, and I hope that that eases up sooner than you're expecting. We were just getting ready to adopt and then got pregnant. I am glad you had already gone through the process before you found out. :-) Praise God for all His little (huge) blessings in your life. I know it's hard though.

ReplyDeleteI have been reading your blog for months now but have never commented. I just have to say that your family is beautiful and what a blessing this is! I feel for you too because I too was SO sick with my son. Do you get this sick with all of them, or just some pregnancies? I am scared to get pregnant again in fear that I will be sick.
ReplyDeleteAnyways congratulations and I HOPE and PRAY that you feel better. And are getting lots of help.
Congrats!! How wonderful. You and Mr.Anderson make beautiful babies so you might as well keep it up! Hope you feel better girl.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations!! 6 under 7! Whoo hoo. Yay for babies!! I have to say, I'm a bit jealous. I'm dying for another one... and mine is just 7 months. All in due time! Congratulations. Kids are the bestest of God's gifts.
ReplyDeletecongratulations and i will be keeping you in my prayers!
ReplyDeletecongratulations anderson crew! what a blessing a baby is. so happy for you all.
ReplyDeleteOh Emily, congrats! I had hyperemesis with every prenancy and it is soo hard. I will be praying for you. So exciting ;)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I totally hear you on the sickness. I was not diagnosed in either of my pregnancies with hyperemesis, but I was nauseous and vomiting for 9 months with both of my little guys (thinking I'll ask about that if I'm sick next pregnancy... does Zofran help you?). It is so hard to be positive and show your happiness when your head is in a toilet. Sending prayers from Texas.
ReplyDeleteI just dropped by your blog today for the first time in a while. Congratulations! I totally understand the "how did THIS one happen?" feeling - I felt that way about this pregnancy (our fifth - very unplanned little guy) I just try to fast forward a couple years and think how I won't be able to imagine it any other way :)
ReplyDeleteI'll be praying for you!!
