the million dollar question: boy or girl?

as we prepare for baby #6 (and by prepare, i mean hyperventilate at the thought of having 6 kids), i've not been able to get my mind off of the gender of this baby.
we didn't find out, which is what we usually do...but this time around, i'm itchin' to know what it is.
maybe it's because we've given away ALL of our baby clothes and i feel the need to somewhat prepare?
maybe it's because i want to think about what the dynamic of our family will look like?
boys are so very different from girls.
someone recently told me to prepare for lots of drama if this baby is a girl.
while i know girls can be dramatic, i must say that my 3 boys hold the dramatic title in this house.  fo' sure.
these boys know how to whine and scream like they are attempting to win an olympic title for it.
but don't get me wrong, hadley knows drama as well (elsa, on the other hand, just goes with the flow...for now).

so, if this baby is a girl:
-we would go from having 1 little lady, to 3 little ladies in less than a year.  can someone say crazy?
-we would get to finally use a name that i've been dying to use for like 4 years now.
-we would get to have that much more dress up clothes and barbie dolls in the house.

-we would get to pay for 3 weddings in the distant future.
-we would get to harass many more boys as they come knocking on our door to take our little ladies out.

-we would get to teach 1 more little lady that she is beautiful, no matter what anyone says.
-and best of all, i would get to watch mr. anderson interact with 1 more daughter.  he is so good to them.

----------------------------------------------
but oh, the joys of boys.
i love being the mom of boys.
they are dirty and loud and messy and hilarious and disgusting.
and while most of that drives me crazy, i couldn't imagine our life any other way.
my favorite part about my boys?
they love their mama.

i couldn't imagine not being needed by these little men.  not being asked to "hold me, mama".
not being flashed the "i love you" sign in sign language, by milo (every 10 minutes the kid does this).
those boys have my heart (so do my girls, but it's different with boys).

so, if we had another boy:
-we would get to explain to even more people that "no, he doesn't have to go to the bathroom.  he's just grabbing his wenis."
-we would get to step on even more legos.  and watch even more lego cities be built.
-we would learn even more secret moves in super mario brothers.
-we would get to watch even more nacho libre movie scenes being reenacted.
-we would get to teach 1 more little dude the importance of being a godly man.
-we would get to wipe even more pee up around the toilet (oh joy!)
-we would get to see even 1 more son, love a woman and make her his wife.  i can't imagine a greater joy than seeing your boys loving and respecting a woman.

i am fine with either a boy or a girl.
both present very different challenges and joys that i am equally excited and nervous about.
i just can't wait to find out!

so, what will this next little anderson be?
besides being the caboose to this train (or so we hope)...will it be a boy or a girl?
tell me what you think...or are hoping it is :)

i am going to say boy, but only because you look FANTASTIC! my girls turned me into a zit faced oompa loompa, but my boy? he made me glow and he still does. i know exactly what you mean about boys "having your heart", it is hard to understand, but it is the truth. whatever you have cooking in that little belly is a BLESSED child to be a member of your loving, sweet family. blessed i tell you.

  2. Personally I think it'd be nice if it was a girl so the genders could be evened out for those inevitable boys vs girls football games some day. And I also really want to know what that name is!

But your boys are all so adorable, so I guess whatever you have, it's going to be one cute kid (:

  3. I don't know, but you'd be so Brady-bunch-cute with 3 of each. :)

  4. I'm hoping for a girl for you guys so you'll have 3 of each....But all that really matters is that you guys have a nice healthy little baby!! And now I am also dying to know what that name is you love!?

  8. It's so weird because even with people I don't know I usually have a "feeling" of what I think it is but with you I can honestly say I don't know either way! I have no strong feeling one way or another.....so I'm gonna go with boy! And I'll just admit that I am SO disappointed you aren't finding out the sex, I'm just sayin'!

no, really, i am praying for a healthy little bundle of God's love for you all!!! boy, girl, boy, girl, hard decision! i am amazed how my feelings towards my boys are so much different than my girls, but i love them just the same{of course}! God has created such wonderful bonds that we share individually and i thank Him so much for that. either way, you will be 6 times blessed! :)

  19. Such a beautiful post. I think it would be nice for you to have another girl......to even it out. I was going to say something about the "wenis" thing but you mentioned it. We now call that body part "wnis" now around here. What a beautiful family you have and just adding another little person will make it even better.

  27. oh, good i just read erin's post and now i don't feel like such a mush ball.
i don't know why this totally made me tear up. i'm going to blame it on hormones.

it made me grab my little guy and squeeze him as i said a quick prayer...then i was interrupted by him saying, "mommy, too tight, your hurting me."

so exciting for you guys. i would never be able to wait to find out the gender...plan ahead baby.

  28. Girl. Just my gut. Then it would be even and you can use your name :)

Either way what a lucky baby to grow up with two wonderful parents and 5 brothers and sisters to love and play with and what a lucky family to have, what I know will be such a blessing in this new little bundle of love!

  29. hmmmm, i don't know... either one is going to be fun! :) loved the pics.

  30. I don't have a feeling one way or another, but I must say that I was really, really, really happy when my twins ended up being girls (we waited until they were born to find out the gender). I have moments, though, when I really wish we had a son, too. I guess that could still happen, right?

    ReplyDelete
  31. My gut instinct is girl... but my gut's usually wrong.. So I say boy! Get ready for the crazy! ;)

  32. oh i wish i could say i want for you to have another girl, but i'm all for a surprise! lol. the little boo to come is just going to steal your heart regardless and that is the most precious thing of all :)

  33. "-we would get to teach 1 more little lady that she is beautiful, no matter what anyone says"

It makes me very sad that you felt the need to include this....

  34. Love this adorable post and perspective with both genders. As a momma of two bubbas (and somebody who has always wanted a ton of boys) I totally agree that the boys love their mommas, but daddy is totally pushing for a lil lady! You need another girly tho, cause Hadley is gorrrrgeous!

  35. Girl. I was #6 and the caboose and loved it. We had 3 boys and 3 girls like the Brady Bunch. We're all very close and it was great growing up in a large family. There is no better gift you can give your children than siblings to share your walk through life.

  36. @nancy, i'm not sure i understand your comment---if it's geared toward me and something i've said or done, or just in general?

either way, unfortunately, our society doesn't make it easy for ladies to feel like their beautiful. but i hope our little ladies will always know how beautiful they are---and that they won't let media or society dictate what is beauty in their life.

    ReplyDelete
  37. holy moly, just find out this time. don't you want to know just once what it feels like to know ahead of time??? i have to say that i have NO regrets finding out the sex and it was always still a surprise but i was able to bond even more with my baby and name him or her in the womb...just sayin'. btw, it's a girl.

  38. Lovely post and photos! I hope it's a girl, so you'd have 3 of each. Also, can Milo be any sweeter? Signing 'I love you'? *melts*

  39. i know you say you carry the same with all your babes, but i've only seen you preggers with kohen and you're carrying the just like you did with him, so i say boy. but i am really hoping it's a girl. i love to see another little hadley. either way, that baby is going to be cute, cute, cute. oh and i didn't understand nancy's comment either.

    ReplyDelete
  40. You look like your carrying high so i'm gonna say boy!!

But whatever you have it looks like you are prepared for either!!

Love the last picture.. too cute :)

  41. I have two boys and two girls and I'm just "that" sort of girl, so I vote equals: a girl! that said, you seem like such an amazing mom and I feel certain that boy or girl, this baby will be the perfect addition to your beautiful family!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I love this! I have 2 boys and one girl. And while Ella is only 3 months the differences are great. You made me tear up thinking of the day my boys find a woman they love more than me. So for now, I'll keep them super close to me! Good luck either way! You seem like a fantastic mother!!

  43. we're on our 5th too - after one girl and then 3 boys in a row. everyone is hoping (and assumes i am too) for a girl.
myeah, i'm kinda nervous of having a girl as 'the baby' of the family and coming after 3 boys. i dunno, the potential for SPOILT is almost overwhelming....!!!
i'd love our daughter to have a sister (but there'd be 8 years between) but i just don't know...maybe (surprisingly!) i'd be relieved if there was another wenis on this one!!

(ps i agree with the mama-son-mama love...so special)

  44. my hubs and i didn't find out for our first two, but with this one i HAD to know. so kudos to you for stickin it out! my question is...what do you think you are having. i knew what i was having each time before the u/s. it would be nice to get to use the name you have picked out!!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I kind of hope for a boy so your last 2 boys can be best friends !!!

  46. I am thinking it is another lovely girl and i am dying to find out your name you are dying to use!!!

  47. My comment was in general. Isn't it said we feel we have to reassure our daughters of this? And you didn't make a similar comment regarding sons because sons aren't faced with that (although they too are faced with other problems.)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Ummm I'm going to have to go with girl, I like the idea of 3 and 3. Also it would be sweet for Elsa to have a little sister to watch grow and help nourish!

    ReplyDelete
  49. i would love to see another little asian girl;)

it's just so fun to see how the genes come out differently with multi-racial families...

like i only have a blonde boy and i would DIE to see what a dark haired boy of mine would look like.

oh... and i kind of love that elsa has more blonde highlights in her hair than the rest of your brood. thank you florida sunshine and a great daddy who can do some hair!!!

  50. Yes, boys! They definitely keep you on your toes. I can't wait to hear what you are having. I'm like a little kid at Christmas and can never wait. 20 weeks is long enough for me. Love these pictures of your sweet family. :-)

  53. I love this post. I love boys & girls!! Either one. I do want to know what that girl name is though...
(And our boy is full of drama, so true. He's the one who cries so hard, he chokes himself. And he gives his mommy this sweetest love)
When is baby due? I forget. I guess I can look at one of your "Week" posts & figure it out myself.
    Gorgeous photo. I love 'em!
