DIY: frilly cake plate

y'all know my LOVE for cake plates
i love making them.  i love using them.  i love looking at them.  i love giving them as gifts.  i just plain freaking love them.  a little too much, one might say.
but i say boooo to that.  one can never have enough cheap and pretty plates to display things on, mkay?

i found this totally girly and frilly ribbon at joanns the other day.
it was quite the splurge for my cheap-A, at $5.00 a yard, so i bought half a yard, knowing exactly what i wanted to use it for.
isn't it pretty?

i hot glued the ribbon around a plain white plate...

then spray painted a candlestick from the goodwill.

then used my cake plate tutorial and voila:

isn't it so pretty?
this is the worlds easiest craft.  i promise.

that cupcake probably cost more than the entire craft combined.  even with the fancy ribbon.

it was delish though.  not gonna lie.  i bought it to share with mr. anderson and i ended up eating his half too. i'm a nursing mama, what can i say?
it was my last dairy-free-for-all because i've given it up (4 days ago to be exact), due to olive having a face rash---probably caused by dairy in my milk.  (but of course, no one can be sure).

when you're making your delish turkey and cheese sandwich for lunch today, put a slice of cheese on for you, and one for your homegirl, me.

*big heavy sigh*
 i miss cheese.

Very pretty! I reposted your cake/dessert stand DIY a couple of weeks ago and gave it as a present to one of my friends. Cheapest and best gift ever!

That's really cute! If only I had a place to store pretty things like that! I've gone dairy free. I had to while nursing both of my kids, but now it's because I've gone vegan. Cheese is the thing I miss the most. You're a strong woman. Look, you have 6 kids! You can do this dairy thing!

if it makes you feel any better, i just threw up an entire oreo milkshake because i'm lactose intolerant but love milkshakes too much. i thought i could handle it, and i couldn't. i'm not even going to talk about what the rest of my body is doing in protest. kinda gross, i know, BUT i hope that makes you feel better about the cheese thing. :)

This is the cutest thing! So simple yet so pretty.

Sorry about your dairy free diet. I recently decided to keep kosher during my conversion process so no more mixing of meat and dairy. No more turkey and cheddar sandwichs for me, but it's worth it :)!

This is so gorgeous! You've inspired me to make more cake plates, even if I have nowhere to put them! haha! ;)

I feel for you, no dairy! Oh man I live for my cheese, I think it has its own food group at my house, and I know my husband eats about a block a week (yet still in shape, that is the unfair part of it all!) My friend who had to go dairy free 9 months ago for her baby lost her baby weight like it was going out of style, I think she is even thinner then she was before baby now! So there is that one plus :)

This is SO adorable! I really want to try it now, such a good idea. And hang in there, the dairy will taste so much better after it's over!

Awww, so cute! I really need to try that.
I'll do my very best to take up the dairy-eating slack for you. Gosh, my future babies better not have any dairy issues 'cause I'm not sure I could live without cheese... and milk... and yogurt... :)

I need that cupcake! And those candle sticks! I searched and searched my goodwill for them to make the mailboxes and now you've got me wanting to make this little pretty too! ;) so cute. How do you do it with all your kiddies and time to craft? I miss it.

Love. This. And its perfect for an event I'm working on! BUT. I can never find candlesticks (even at Goodwill). And does the lace stick pretty well to the plate with hot glue??

First of all, that cake plate is totally adorable!!! Thanks for sharing! And, good luck with the whole no dairy bit. I have been dairy free for almost a year, and now I don't really miss it. It did take a while though. If you get a craving, coconut milk ice cream is delish, and hits the spot.

so fun! I love cake plates too. This one may be a little too girly for me, but I still feel happy inside looking at it. I just feel like "cake" plate is almost too limiting. It should be called the "everything" plate since you could display anything from breakfast to dinner on those beauties, but the word "cake" does conjure more emotion and taste than anything else. So yeah, nevermind. :) Nice to meet ya, I love your blog.
