i can still remember new years eve, 1999...sitting in my best friends basement, with all of our good friends...watching the ball drop, and wondering if Y2K was really going to happen.
our friends thought it was---hilariously, her parents had a closet full of canned goods and everything you would need to survive, should the world choose to blow up when the clock struck midnight.
and then the ball dropped and nothing happened.
talk about a letdown.
i'm sure they are still eating that canned food.
and now here we are...12 years later.
12 years.
so much has happened since that letdown of a night.
2001 - started following christ
2002 - met my mr. anderson
2003 - became mrs. anderson
2004 - caedmon was born, moved for the 1st time
2005 - hadley was born, moved for the 2nd time
2006 - got prego with milo
2007 - milo was born
2008 - moved from kansas to orlando
2009 - moved yet again, bought our first home, kohen was born
2010 - started the adoption process
2011 - elsa comes home from africa, olive is born
and now, 2012...our adventure continues.
mr. anderson has gotten a fabulous job...in dallas.
yup, we are moving.
(raise your hand if you live in texas!)
this decision was not thought about lightly, and in the end, we both agreed that this was where the lord was leading our family.
it's a hard thought, to pull your kids away from their friends and the life they know and love.
when we moved here in 2008, they were too little to understand the life-changing aspects of a move. now that they are older, and are in school, it's a much bigger deal.
hadley actually sobbed when we told her (break my heart - the girl is SO sensitive).
milo was just concerned whether or not we would have food to eat while we drive there (after he found out the drive would be a long one).
so, we will be staying in orlando until the end of the school year, then it's back to the midwest.
i couldn't be more stoked, as it's driving distance from my hometown!
and the town we are moving to is supposed to be very family friendly...and well, we have quite the family.
so, we will spend the next 5 months slowly packing things away...trying to sell our house...making sure to do all of the things that we "must do while living in florida."
i know the time will go fast...and i'm good with that.
our lives are about to change again...but i wonder, do our lives ever stop changing?
looking back on my last 12 years, i would say that change is inevitable...and if you let it be, it's also good.

Congrats to your husband! My heart would break if I had to move away from my family, but there is always a part of me that wishes something would carry us to a different part of the country. I have never lived more than 30 minutes away from the house I grew up in. Sometimes I think change would be good. In the meantime, I'll live vicariously through you. Good luck!
Exciting!!!
I'm dying for a fun adventure and this sound like a GREAT adventure!
How exciting Emily! You amaze me with your stamina! Looking forward to following this big adventure of yours.x

So exciting!!! We live in the Dallas area, an I absolutely lOVE it! I come from a super small town up north, and surprising love how family friendly our area is here (we live in north dallas). And I work downtown and ride the rail most days!!). I look forward to reading about your journeys in 2012 :)
One of the SWEETEST blogger mamas I know lives in Dallas, or nearby, her blog is http://www.pamplemousse1983.com/ she is super craft (we exchange craft things) I crochet her hats and shoes and she makes wookie or mustache t-shirts for Judah :-)
I heard the people are super nice down there, my other best friend who used to work with me at McLean Bible Church is supposed to move down with her husbands job in about a year or so (you would LOVE her) she just adopted her son right before I had Judah so our boys grow up together :-)
I remember 1999 when the ball dropped, I was saved in 2000 as well and on NYE 1999 I figured if its the end of the world I am going to the biggest rave I can find (which wasn't hard then) and literally party till 2000. Don't remember much of that night. But I def realized I needed Christ after some hard partying and realized how I couldn't find happiness in anything/then turned to Christ.
Best wishes sweetheart! It will be awesome.....
What exciting things this year holds for your family! (Man, I wish my brother's family would move from Florida to somewhere closer to Wichita! I'd take Dallas, that's only a five hour drive.) Your kids will be just fine, they have parents and a heavenly Father who love them! Blessings!
Congrats to Mr. Anderson! Good luck with the move.
*Raising my hand* I'm in Texas!!! Please tell me this means we can be real life friends! :) I'm so excited for you guys! And I'm so glad it's closer to your family. That's such a blessing.
Welcome to Texas, Andersons! :)
I grew up in the Dallas area- Plano, to be exact. I LOVE Texas! Since you're already used to the heat, it should be a breeze. Great schools, lots to do, should be fun! And, the BEST Mexican food! Yummo!
Exciting for your family! Hope all of the moving goes smoothly. :)
Congrats to your family, SO exciting!
Oh wow! What excitement!!! My baby sis moved to Dallas a few months back and she loves it there, and like you, loves that she can now drive home to Iowa for holidays. She works at A Little Artsy~ I bet your kiddos would love to stop in. If you do, give my sis a shout out! :) Best wishes on your new adventure!!
*raises both hands** Texas loud, Texas proud!! I have a feeling Milo will love Dallas since the Texas Motor Speedway is close (Fort Worth) and NASCAR has 2 races there (I think 2; 1 for sure)! :)
We live in Arlington near Cowboys Stadium. I love it here! Yea, Dallas (or Frisco or Allen or Flower Mound or whatever family-friendly town you're actually moving to :)!
Wow! Contests!! You are not kidding about change, it happens (I know a lot about change, and we might have some big change coming our way too) but it can be an adventure if you let it. I have family that live in Dallas and my best friend lives in the Fort Worth area. DFW is a great area, lots of things to do. I wish you the best in you next adventure!!
We live in Flower Mound and it is sooo family friendly! It's just me and the hubby now, but we are working on the family part right now! ;) If you are moving here, would love to meet you in person! You are so inspiring in your walk with the Lord! Thanks for blogging about it! :)

Amen to that sista! May God bless you as you follow His plan! It is going to be good! :)
Awesome! We lived in Dallas for awhile growing up. Coppell to be exact. It was great, still 8 hrs from KC (where we moved from), great weather and like you said, very kid-friendly. Enjoy the adventure!
Dallas?! That's where we're from! Granted we moved last year, but only a hop, skip, and a jump north. And you can't get from Dallas to Kansas without driving past my house! Plus, we go home all.the.time. Now we can be friends in real life ;)

Congratulations and good luck on your new adventure! I am in the Houston area, but lived in Dallas for awhile and LOVED it! I am looking forward to following you along!
Yay for an exciting move! I will pray that all goes well for you and yours. I'm just now catching up in the blogiverse since Christmas and I love all the fun things you've posted. As for more life changes to come, I'm actually nervous/excited to see what 2012 will bring. :)
We live right outside of Dallas:). I've lived here my whole life. Texas is great. Except for June, July, & August..& sometimes September. lol But, according to some of your posts, Orlando is no better! But the heat means lots of swimming, & makes for happy kids! And, right now, it's in the 40's. Which means you do get to pull out those warm clothes. Welcome to north Texas! Praying for a super smooth transition:)...
Love following your blog... brings a smile to my day :D What are the two new fonts used in your header? They rock!

This is so exciting =) Does this mean Mr. Anderson is leaving staff with Crusade or just transitioning to another position in Dallas?
Just finished the moving process. Prayin for ya'll.
Holla from Texas! we're glad to have YALL :)
Yeah for another Emily in the metroplex! My hubby and 1.8 kids (due in 5 weeks) live in a small town called Rhome just north of Ft Worth. Don't know where you will end up specifically, but we are super happy to have you!

Wow- we just did this exact thing 8 months ago. 2 weeks after our 3 baby was born. We moved from Arizona to Corpus Christi, Texas and it.was.hard!!!! Our oldest is 7 and it was gutrenching pulling her out of school! I hated it! And while she has transitioned well I am still wanting so badly to get back to Az! We are hoping we can get back this year! Good luck!
CONGRATS! I live in Dallas...well, Fort Worth and LOVE it...you guys will too! :)
I've lived in Dallas almost my entire life. Let me know if you have questions...churches, schools, shopping....
Congrats!! Texas is my home state:) You'll love it. DFW is great! Enjoy your remaining time in Florida. Thinking of you and your family as you begin the transition.
Congratulations on the next phase of your lives! I currently live in Austin, but am Dallas born and bred. I can only speak wonderful things of Texas, and us Texans for that matter. Will be praying for a smooth transition for you and the family!
Sad to see you move away, but BLESSINGS on your continuing adventure. We made the big move in 2003 when Andrew was 8 yrs old. Very hard, but so is life sometimes. He now has friends in both "homes." Love you all!
Congratulations to the new awesome job! My family moved around all the time when I was little, and I loved it. Sure, each move was hard at the moment, but it gives you such an opportunity to see more and "know" more. I love having mini roots all over.
looks like another exciting year for the books! i live in the dfw area & have for 6 years & love it! would be happy to answer any Texas questions you might have!
I live in Dallas! Born and raised here. You can email me at perkbro@yahoo.com for any questions that you may have. I bet you'll love it here. Can I say hi if I ever see you out and about?!
We live in Dallas and are in the process of adopting from Uganda. We would love to show you around or answer any questions as well. enjoy your time in Orlando before you move. Rachel (www.equipoleos.com/rachel.leos09@gmail.com)
i'm disappointed in your decision to move to dallas and not back home. rude. nooooo, i'm glad you're obeying the lord and i'm sure he'll bless you for it. maybe one day june and olive can be friends.
see, there names just go together...june and olive.
exciting!! :) cant wait to hear more about your journey
Congratulations! It will be an exciting year...heard Texas is great.
Congratulations on your move! I am raising my hand too! Gotta love Texas!
Texas is great! We live in the Dallas area, lots of the surrounding cities are great for families.
So many changes in all of those years, but such blessings too.
My husband and I live in the Dallas area.. in a "suburb" about 30 minutes outside of Dallas actually. We both grew up in and absolutely love Texas and can't wait to raise our first son (due in February!!) here.
Let me know if you have any questions about this area..especially family friendly ideas or church homes..I can definitely help!
we are praying about the same thing. stay in atl but buy a bigger house (9 in 2400 sq feet is getting a little tight), move home to VA or move to nashville. i will be following religiously to get some tips! i'm especially concerned about what a move will do for our adopted girls...
Emily!
How exciting.
Wising you the best of luck in this new adventure. Dallas!
Shout out from outside of Dallas! You are gonna love it!
Im in the Dallas area! (I just got totally excited like we might be neighbors! What a dork!) HAHAHA. You will all love it here. Hotter than H-E-double tooth picks for many many months but hey you are used to that. And while we may not get snow (rarely).. atleast winter will feel more like winter we are very cold Dec-Feb!
Yay!! I live in Denton, which is about 30 min or so from Dallas!
Very exciting for you all! It was so nice to get to know you in person this year. It will be fun to follow you on your adventures in Texas!
Ah!!! How exciting!! We leave in 6 weeks to move to ND from Seattle and talk about bitter sweet! Really happy for you guys!
Hmm, our lives seem to be amazingly...the same. Accept believe it or not we've moved 7 times in 11 years. Yes. Crazy. And 5 kids in that time. We added 3 kids in 7 months. And...we're waiting to be told where we are moving this summer. We're actually hoping it's FL somewhere. Sick of the snow. I was hoping my lego loving son and your lego people loving son could've met. Guess not. Maybe you'll go visit your adoptive momma's group though. Congrats and good luck with all the junk that goes a long with it all. I know I am not looking forward to the whole process. =) Keeping a house in selling condition with 5 or 6 kids?? If you find a way, let me know.
Oh! Hand raised! Congratulations on the new job and I'll be praying for a safe move! :]
Congratulations! I live in small-town Texas; in the far northeast corner (Paris) and WISH I lived in Dallas. Does that count? We've been through lots of moves with our kiddos, and my only unsolicited advice is to really listen to them no matter how crazy their fears or issues might be. And pray LOTS. How exciting!
I live in the DFW area!!! This is so exciting! I've been here since 1995 and there are wonderful churches, schools, and mommies!!!
I live in Grapevine, which is about 20 minutes outside of Dallas!! i have been here my whole life! If you need any helpful hints on things to do with your crew let me know!! Welcome to Texas :)
Congrats! I was hoping we would eventually cross paths in Orlando, but I guess that won't be happening! Best of luck, I'm excited to read about your new adventures!
Blessings to you & fam on this next phase of your journey! If you all have not surfed, come by our surf shop in Ormond Beach and I will hook you up with some boards for a day before you leave Florida:)
Raising both hands! I live about 2 hours SE of Dallas! You will love it there! Milo too...or at least the Texas Motor Speedway! Congrats on the move...the job...and the ever adorable Olive! Happy New (er, Whew!) Year!
I'm excited you guys are moving to Dallas! I went to Texas this summer with my friend and really loved it. This just adds reasons for me to go back!
Yay! Welcome to Texas :) We live about 25 miles South of Dallas in a fairly small town and absolutely love it!!!
Good luck with the move! My husband and I have been tossing around the idea of moving and it scares me like no other. But then I lived in the same house all of my life and I now live a block and a half away from that house, so...
wow! you sure do get a lot of comments! love your blog. happy for your texas move...i'm from dallas and it's great, but maybe that's just because it's home.
just a helpful tip, if you call dallas "the midwest"...you may have trouble making friends. haha! texans, are pretty proud to just be texans. (it's weird, i know)
I just found your blog via Lu Bird, and came scrolling down what do you know ya'll will be moving to Dallas. You will love it I'm a born and raised Texan. My husband and I have lived in a Suburb of Dallas for the past 8 years. So family friendly and so much to do.
im raising my hand! i live in texas!!!
Wow what an adventure you have ahead! Good luck in all of the preparing stuff and with the long drive! I hope everything goes wonderfully for you!
Just found your blog from Casey's. We live in Texas though farther south than Dallas, but y'all will love Texas! We are friendly folks here!!! I have only read about 5 of your post but wow you amaze me!!! So glad I found your blog!!
ah texas!
good choice!
my parents live in DFW and we visit at least once a year.
my kids absolutely LOVE dallas area and ask to live there all the time when we visit.

so much to see and do, great weather, great people.
it's awesome!
can't wait to hear about your texan adventures!
good luck!
xo
I'm born and bred in Fort Worth, and this is a GREAT area to raise a family. The entire DFW metroplex is crammed full of awesome things to do, all while still being not too far from some country-space. Excited for you all! Yay 2012!
yay!! originally from texas, but moved to "dallas" in 2009! it is my favorite city that i have ever lived in! what part of the city are you moving to, its BIG? :) i saw on msn tonight that frisco and mckinney are the #1 and #2 fastest growing cities in america! craziness!
I've always wanted to live in another state, but I don't know how I would do away from my close knit family and my home town.
Good luck with the move :)
