a new year, a new adventure.

i can still remember new years eve, 1999...sitting in my best friends basement, with all of our good friends...watching the ball drop, and wondering if Y2K was really going to happen.
our friends thought it was---hilariously, her parents had a closet full of canned goods and everything you would need to survive, should the world choose to blow up when the clock struck midnight.
and then the ball dropped and nothing happened.

talk about a letdown.
i'm sure they are still eating that canned food.

and now here we are...12 years later.
12 years.
so much has happened since that letdown of a night.

2001 - started following christ
2002 - met my mr. anderson
2003 - became mrs. anderson
2004 - caedmon was born, moved for the 1st time
2005 - hadley was born, moved for the 2nd time
2006 - got prego with milo
2007 - milo was born
2008 - moved from kansas to orlando
2009 - moved yet again, bought our first home, kohen was born
2010 - started the adoption process
2011 - elsa comes home from africa, olive is born

and now, 2012...our adventure continues.
mr. anderson has gotten a fabulous job...in dallas.
yup, we are moving.
(raise your hand if you live in texas!)

this decision was not thought about lightly, and in the end, we both agreed that this was where the lord was leading our family.
it's a hard thought, to pull your kids away from their friends and the life they know and love.
when we moved here in 2008, they were too little to understand the life-changing aspects of a move.  now that they are older, and are in school, it's a much bigger deal.
hadley actually sobbed when we told her (break my heart - the girl is SO sensitive).
milo was just concerned whether or not we would have food to eat while we drive there (after he found out the drive would be a long one).

so, we will be staying in orlando until the end of the school year, then it's back to the midwest.
i couldn't be more stoked, as it's driving distance from my hometown!
and the town we are moving to is supposed to be very family friendly...and well, we have quite the family.

so, we will spend the next 5 months slowly packing things away...trying to sell our house...making sure to do all of the things that we "must do while living in florida."
i know the time will go fast...and i'm good with that.
our lives are about to change again...but i wonder, do our lives ever stop changing?

looking back on my last 12 years, i would say that change is inevitable...and if you let it be, it's also good.

Congrats to your husband! My heart would break if I had to move away from my family, but there is always a part of me that wishes something would carry us to a different part of the country. I have never lived more than 30 minutes away from the house I grew up in. Sometimes I think change would be good. In the meantime, I'll live vicariously through you. Good luck!

One of the SWEETEST blogger mamas I know lives in Dallas, or nearby, her blog is http://www.pamplemousse1983.com/ she is super craft (we exchange craft things) I crochet her hats and shoes and she makes wookie or mustache t-shirts for Judah :-)

I heard the people are super nice down there, my other best friend who used to work with me at McLean Bible Church is supposed to move down with her husbands job in about a year or so (you would LOVE her) she just adopted her son right before I had Judah so our boys grow up together :-)

I remember 1999 when the ball dropped, I was saved in 2000 as well and on NYE 1999 I figured if its the end of the world I am going to the biggest rave I can find (which wasn't hard then) and literally party till 2000. Don't remember much of that night. But I def realized I needed Christ after some hard partying and realized how I couldn't find happiness in anything/then turned to Christ.

We live right outside of Dallas:). I've lived here my whole life. Texas is great. Except for June, July, & August..& sometimes September. lol But, according to some of your posts, Orlando is no better! But the heat means lots of swimming, & makes for happy kids! And, right now, it's in the 40's. Which means you do get to pull out those warm clothes. Welcome to north Texas! Praying for a super smooth transition:)...

My husband and I live in the Dallas area.. in a "suburb" about 30 minutes outside of Dallas actually. We both grew up in and absolutely love Texas and can't wait to raise our first son (due in February!!) here.

Let me know if you have any questions about this area..especially family friendly ideas or church homes..I can definitely help!

we are praying about the same thing. stay in atl but buy a bigger house (9 in 2400 sq feet is getting a little tight), move home to VA or move to nashville. i will be following religiously to get some tips! i'm especially concerned about what a move will do for our adopted girls...

Hmm, our lives seem to be amazingly...the same. Accept believe it or not we've moved 7 times in 11 years. Yes. Crazy. And 5 kids in that time. We added 3 kids in 7 months. And...we're waiting to be told where we are moving this summer. We're actually hoping it's FL somewhere. Sick of the snow. I was hoping my lego loving son and your lego people loving son could've met. Guess not. Maybe you'll go visit your adoptive momma's group though. Congrats and good luck with all the junk that goes a long with it all. I know I am not looking forward to the whole process. =) Keeping a house in selling condition with 5 or 6 kids?? If you find a way, let me know.

Congratulations! I live in small-town Texas; in the far northeast corner (Paris) and WISH I lived in Dallas. Does that count? We've been through lots of moves with our kiddos, and my only unsolicited advice is to really listen to them no matter how crazy their fears or issues might be. And pray LOTS. How exciting!
